Tsunami Early Warning Systems for the Indian Ocean
Early warning systems for earthquakes and tsunamis in the Indian Ocean will be coming online soon and then the world will be a little safer. The technologies used for these warning systems will include pressure recording systems laid on the ocean floor and linked to surface data buoys to regional emergency management agencies and then broadcast over an Emergency Broadcasting System. Development of all of this will unify many nations as they make improvements to the communications infrastructure and create a truly robust and effective system.
Makers of ocean observation systems include Sound Ocean Systems and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Sources for emergency broadcasting systems include Information Station Specialists and US Federal Communications Commission.
